Step 2: Answer the question with a gesture

Give the answer to the question, in kid friendly language, accompanied by a gesture.


You can use Power Pix to help explain the answer, as well as give a visual reminder of the word.

Step 2: A verb can be active (churn arms) or passive (fold arms).


In a one minute lesson, use Mirror Words or different mirror variations to teach the definition. Use variety each time you repeat.  Follow with a Teach Okay asking students to repeat and paraphrase the answer using gestures.


Be sure to monitor student comprehension during the Teach Okay. You can quickly asses whether your students are ready to move on to step 3 or if they need a repeat of the answer.
